Will The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken Hit Theaters In August 2018 To the Tune of Maze Runner & The Hunger Games?

Of The Darkest Minds Series, the first novel in the series The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken is making its way to film starring Amandla Stenberg as the protagonist of the book Ruby.  As far as Ruby, she was placed in a camp for the surviving small percentage of children who didn’t die from a mysterious illness, but she escapes the camp by using her own secret “superpowers”, to be on the run with a small group just like her where she will be in a  vulnerable tension with one of the people in the group, the leader named Liam.  This position of vulnerability is one of attraction to Liam.  The Darkest Minds is what I call a story that takes place on the move, so something is constantly going on.

The director behind this book to film is Jennifer Yuh Nelson, and we should be looking for this movie to release this summer, August 8, 2018.  For those who want to take up all three stories in the series, it is available as a complete set with one click as an ebook while there is also a collection of these titles with bonus content.  The titles in the full series are The Darkest Minds, Never Fade and In the Afterlight.

Of course, that isn’t all. One can get A Darkest Minds Collection titled Through The Dark which also has novellas included titled In Time, Sparks Arise and Beyond the Night.  Yeah, it’s a lot, but the series is well worth it if you can get into a touch of romance in science fiction with dashes of run for your life scattered all over.  It seasons well.

For those wondering how the movie will do, it’s up in the air.  I would say this one depends solely on how well promotion is for the film, but the fact that it follows children in a world of escape, it could bring in the crowds such as Maze Runner and The Hunger Games.
