Three Books On Race and Civil Rights That Are MUST READS at Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday for 2022

We all know Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as the blessed man who was one of the greatest leaders of our time, leading the civil rights movement for Black Americans before he was slain, cut down and assassinated by a white man in Memphis, Tennessee at the Lorraine Motel which is now a Civil Rights Museum.

His memory and what he and others stood for in the face of injustice and oppression will never be forgotten. Without God being with him and them all during their nonviolent marches in a country that was founded on violence and injustice, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

The fight continues in books that are still being released now, in 2022, showing how we must continue to press on toward the mark of justice and equality for Black people.

Just Pursuit: A Black Prosecutor’s Right for Fairness by Laura Coates is a memoir taking us all through the truth of the criminal justice system told by a Department of Justice prosecutor – Laura Coates.

She joined the system to quickly learn that it was unfair, treating Black people differently at every single turn, from overpolicing, over judging and more. This shows us that even in 2022, we still must march on. In order to fight, we must know what to fight against.

Read the book on January 18th.
