Banned Book by Jerry Craft “New Kid”To Be Adapted Into Movie by Two Black American Men

It looks like you can’t keep a good book down! With all the mumbling and grumbling from a certain portion of the population about what children should be reading and have access to, New Kid by Jerry Craft fell into that category of banned with many other books written by non-white authors.

Although banned, Jerry Craft’s New Kid is going to be made into a movie by Universal, and guess who is writing the scripts and directing according to Deadline? On the script there will be a Black American writer Eli Wilson Pelton, and in the director’s chair will be Prentice Penny, another Black American, both having worked on the hit show Insecure and other productions.

This is absolutely great news, especially coming at the beginning of Black History Month 2022, can we all agree? Of course we can. See more and read more Jerry Craft books below:

New Kid is about a young boy trying his best to find his way in a school where he is one of the only people of color while coming from a whole other world.
