Director & Author Tyler Perry Will Receive the 2020 Governors Award

New York Times bestselling author, actor, director and producer Tyler Perry has earned the 2020 Governors Award, and will receive it at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Tyler Perry and his Perry Foundation will be presented with the award, according to Deadline, on September 20th.

As far as books that Tyler Perry has written, one of his best sellers is Higher is Waiting which was published by Random House in 2017. The book is somewhat of a spiritual biography in which Perry shares his life story and provides inspiration to others.

His other best seller would be one of the Madea type, titled Don’t Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Uninhibited Commentaries on Love and Life. In this book, his character Madea supplies her own wisdom and lessons learned from life. It’s the life of Tyler Perry’s most celebrated character in movies, and he celebrated her in this book.
